Uyanik: Big Four killing soccer
ANKARA -Turkish Daily News
Outspoken Samsunspor Chairman Ismail Uyanik continued a string of recent attacks on the Big Four teams, Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor, accusing them of "killing Turkish soccer" by keeping keeping a massively inflated share of its financial resources in their own hands.
According to Uyanik, the Super League is weak and uncompetitive because of this imbalance in funding and the game cannot develop until a solution is found.
"On the one hand," he fumed, "you have teams with $100 million budgets, on the other those which are struggling to survive on budgets of $7 million to 10 million.
They have a machine gun, we just have a knife. How can we compete under such circumstances? Is competition possible in this situation?"
